Arrival Information
Landside: The Capital Improvement Program includes ground transportation components to be constructed within the next five to six years. Projects remaining include upgrading short-term parking, new bus stations for the cruise ship operations at the North and South terminals, and the MIA Mover.
Parking: Two long-term parking garages - Dolphin and Flamingo - and two short-term parking facilities provide 7,800 spaces, including those reserved for persons with disabilities. There is also a high-vehicle lot adjacent to the Dolphin Garage. Long-term parking rates: $4 per hour for the first two hours, $2 per hour for the third and fourth hour, or fraction thereof, to a maximum of $12 per day.
Short-term parking rates: $2.50 per half hour, or fraction thereof, to a maximum of $25 per day.
Airport Improvements MIA's $4.8 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is well underway, encompassing all aspects of airport operations, from the Terminal and roadways to the cargo facilities and the airfield.
Terminal: Has been expanded from 3.5 million square feet in 1995 to 4.7 million square feet. Further development of the North and South Terminals will add 2.7 million square feet for a total of 7.4 million square feet upon completion of phase one of the CIP, with 100 international gates and 30 domestic gates for a total of 130 gates. The Terminal will have 556 ticket counters and 120 self-service devices.
Cargo: Ongoing expansion of the cargo area on the west and north sides of the airfield has provided over 2.8 million square feet of new, Class A cargo handling facilities. The project includes 14 new cargo buildings and a new roadway system between cargo areas and major highways.
